House History

The Space Oak Park is just 50 yards from the Harrison Arts District and has served as a cooperative household on and off for five years. It has a rich musical history. An early owner was Chicago Symphony Orchestra violinist and an arts center director. They replaced their garage with the current coach house in 2006 and taught violin here. For that reason, it was designed with the cathedral ceiling for maximized acoustic fidelity. In 2010, the Harrisons from Boston bought the house and hosted monthly musical gatherings where people of all ages and musical abilities came to sing folk, rock and show tunes at Music Night Oak Park. Many Music Night guests brought and left the instruments that surround you and which you’re welcome to play. Although the pandemic brought the event's demise, the home continues to host extremely accomplished musicians and music appreciators today.
